Apprentice Program

Since 1959, Skylight has viewed the development of young artists as an integral part of its mission. The Production Apprentice Program helps to fulfill that mission by training the next generation of theatre artists to take their place in the performing arts community.

The Production Apprentice Program provides an opportunity to work with Skylight’s professional staff, helping to support the high standards of quality and craftsmanship that Skylight audiences have come to expect. Apprentices work closely with an accomplished company of artists, administrators, guest directors and designers. They are treated as full members of the professional staff and receive the intensive hands on experience crucial to a professional resume.

Apprenticeships are designed to fulfill as many career-building goals and objectives as possible and to provide the apprentice with a variety of professional contacts and experiences.

To apply for The Skylight Production Apprentice Program each candidate must submit the following:

1.  A current resume and cover letter.

The resume should include education, theatre experience and training and any related work or skills. The cover should include the area of interest.

2.   A personal statement.

A personal statement describing the candidate’s expectations of the Apprentice Program and how it relates to his/her individual goals.

3.  Three letters of recommendation.

Each letter must include the writer’s contact information.

4.  Portfolio Sample.

This should be a representative sample of work you have done in the past and may include pictures, writing samples or any other appropriate materials.

Apprenticeship applicants are encouraged to tour the facilities and arrange an interview whenever possible. Email application materials to lisas@skylightmusictheatre.org
