With the ground-shaking thunder of a revival meeting and an electrifying gospel and blues score, The Gospel at Colonus is an exuberant re-telling of Sophocles’ Oedipus at Colonus. Featuring soaring voices, thrilling music and powerful dance, the musical is set in the context of a black Pentecostal service. Gospel premiered on Broadway in 1988 and was revived in 2018, playing to capacity audiences at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. Recommended for ages 8 and up

Leonard Bernstein’s operetta is a masterpiece for the ages. Based on Voltaire’s satire of innocence, optimism and life’s unexpected lessons, Candide tells the story of two young people, their round-the-world romp and series of absurdly unfortunate events. Bridging the gap between musicals and opera, Candide holds a special place in Skylight history, produced twice at Skylight’s old space on Jefferson Street. This is its first time on the Cabot stage. Recommended for ages 12 and up
