Open Letter from Skylight Music Theatre
Dear Skylight Friends and Partners,
Happy New Year! As the new President of Skylight Music Theatre’s Board of Directors, I wanted to introduce myself and say thank you for your continued support of Skylight.
As you may know, Jack R. Lemmon stepped down as Skylight Music Theatre Executive Director at the end of 2022 after leading the company for more than seven years. A nationwide search by the firm Management Consultants for the Arts is currently underway for his replacement. We anticipate the position to be filled by this spring.
In the meantime, I am delighted to tell you that the Board of Directors has appointed Susan Varela as Interim Executive Director. Susan has been Skylight’s Director of Artistic Operations since 2019. Her leadership, enthusiasm, and dedication to the arts and to Skylight will ensure that Skylight Music Theatre continues to move forward smoothly and successfully during this transition.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to thank Susan and the entire Skylight team for their tireless efforts to bring outstanding music theatre to our community. Like all arts groups, we are still recovering from the challenges of the pandemic. But we are committed to doing what we do best -- entertaining and delighting audiences with the full range of music theatre from blockbuster Broadway musicals to reimagined operas, and from exciting world premieres to contemporary off-Broadway hits. We are proud to be Milwaukee’s Home for Music Theatre -- the only professional Milwaukee arts company devoted solely to music theatre.
