Support Skylight Music Theatre all year long
We invite you to become part of Skylight Music Theatre’s legacy as a friend and donor throughout the year. Skylight showcases exciting and captivating music theatre productions with 100+ performances during our 5-production season, and yet subscriptions and ticket sales cover just 52% of the costs incurred to operate Milwaukee’s home for music theatre all year long.
As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, every donation matters. At Skylight Music Theatre, restoration never rests – and we depend on your support in order to continue preserving and safeguarding our historic theatre. Educational Programs
Skylight Music Theatre’s commitment to artistic excellence extends beyond the realms of the stage into local classrooms, community centers, and in our very own rehearsal spaces. A gift to our education programs is a gift to help not just Skylight, but the young people who comprise our great city of Milwaukee. Read more about our education programs and donate below.
KidsWrites & Songbook Touring Programs
The Songbook Program teaches basic music theory and concepts of music through song and storytelling. Using an original script written by Skylight’s Manager of Education, professional actors from Milwaukee present a live production, introducing students in grades K–3 to the concepts of melody, harmony, rhythm, tempo, and lyrics.
KidsWrites is a music theatre revue with lyrics and dialogue written entirely by students in grades 3–8. We take live performances of the completed musical back to the schools, performed by professional actors and an accompanist. TeenWrites is the high school version of the program.​
Student Matinees
Our student matinees are special one-time performances exclusively for students during each production of our season held in the Cabot Theatre of the Broadway Theatre Center. Skylight cannot replace all the benefits of in-school arts programs, but through this field-trip experience we can open the eyes of students and their teachers to the benefits of an education that integrates the arts. We can show students that the arts play a critical role in their emotional and cognitive development through exposure to our high caliber performances.
Join us for Behind the Curtain
When you make a gift to Skylight Music Theatre, you are joining the Skylight Circle. As a community that cares deeply about the arts in Milwaukee, we are proud to invite you to special donor and subscriber only events, one of which is our Behind the Curtain events. Prior to opening night of each production, Behind the Curtain offers an intmate gathering to hear from Artistic Director Michael Unger and special guests from the production. The night offers a community-friendly atmosphere with refreshments and a cash bar, and concludes with a look into a live rehearsal. Our supporters love to witness the professionalism of our creative teams and gather together with like-minded community members.
